The winter transfer market is always a period of significant rumour and possible big-money transfers. A number of notable players are being connected to moves out of their present clubs. We examine a selection of the top figures who are poised to be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although Ghana's failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the player available, indications are a significant move is imminent. This Bournemouth attacker has a deal featuring a sizeable buy-out clause applicable for a brief period in early January. Recent developments suggest the Premier League champions look to have won the race for his signature. Other suitors like Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to alternative targets, potentially opening the door for clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a late bid.

Marc Guéhi

The England defender has continued to excel for Crystal Palace this season a summer transfer to Anfield collapsing. With his contract due to run out in the summer, this represents the London club's last opportunity to obtain a fee for their skipper. A host of elite clubs, including Manchester City and several continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to be interested. Yet, a January departure remains difficult, particularly given the coach's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

This Welsh winger has found first-team minutes hard to come by at Tottenham this campaign. Despite finishing as the side's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, Johnson has started only a small number of league games. Reports suggest the London outfit is willing to consider a transfer for the correct price, believed to be in the region of £40 million. The Cherries appear to be leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace additionally showing an inquiry.

Rúben Neves

This Portuguese playmaker might be set for a return to the English top flight after a spell in Saudi Arabia. Still only 28, while his contract expiring in the summer, he is a possible bargain. Clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with the player. Additionally, there are rumours from Spanish media that he would be prepared to accept a pay cut for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This veteran German goalkeeper finds himself as the third option at Barça following the coach Flick. Having lost his place and had surgery, a January departure looks increasingly likely. Villa were once linked as a possible suitor, but that option now appears off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly showing interest in the 33-year-old.

I. Toney

This prolific English striker has kept scoring regularly in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League could boost his dwindling hopes of making the England World Cup. But, securing a deal poses significant challenges. His current club do not wish to sell him, and his reported enormous weekly wages make any move difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all mentioned as interested parties.

The striker was instrumental as Al-Ahli to a win in the domestic cup final.

Conor Gallagher

This dynamic English midfielder drew considerable attention in the summer but stayed at Atlético. With limited starting appearances in La Liga this term, he may be eager to secure more playing time ahead of the tournament. United have been heavily connected, and a return to Crystal Palace, a club he excelled on a temporary deal, remains a option, although financial demands might prove a stumbling block.

H. Elliott

Despite starring and winning the best player award at the U21 Euros in the summer, the talented midfielder has struggled for minutes during his loan spell at Villa. Unai Emery has stated the loan move won't be made permanent. Due to FIFA regulations about playing for two clubs in a season, a move back to Liverpool before next season appears to be the only viable solution.

K. Yildiz

The exciting Turkish attacker is in fine form for the Italian giants this season. With his current deal running down, a host of English sides – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are keeping tabs on the developments. Juventus are desperate to tie down the youngster to a lengthy agreement but are in a race to retain one of Europe's brightest young talents.

Kees Smit

The much-admired Netherlands teenage midfielder has earned comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. After starring at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ first team. This teenager is heavily tipped to complete a big-money transfer this month. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but could face stiff competition from Real Madrid for a deal priced at around £22 million.
